4 Team Building Icebreaker Activities for Corporate Events

Unless you work for a small company, you probably don’t know a majority of your colleagues on a personal level. Regardless of business size, corporate events such as holiday parties and Employee Appreciation Days, are great ways to get to know the people behind your organization.

To make these days a success, you’ll need the right venue and catering company. That’s where Catering By Mario’s comes in. We are one of the top caterers in Bucks County, and we regularly work corporate events ranging from New Hope to South Philadelphia.

Once you know where the party is and what the menu will be, the next thing to worry about is entertainment. Luckily for you, we have done some homework for you – here are four fun activities that will help you learn more about your staff:

  • Truths and a Lie – One of the best ways to learn about new people is to learn what makes them tick. The way to play Truths and a Lie is to give everybody a piece of paper where they must list one, two or three honest statements about themselves (make them interesting please.) They must also sprinkle in one fib on the list.Note: Make sure not to list which one is which on the paper. The next step of the game involves somebody picking the papers and trying to figure out (A) who it is and (B) which is their lie.
  • Scavenger Hunts – Scav hunts are fun to create and partake in. Think of it as one of those popular “Escape the Room” games only simpler, lower-budget and less time-consuming. Hide objects across the party that contain clues, and see which team can find the final object first. This requires trust, communication, and outside the box thinking.
  • Create a Game Show – From knockoff Jeopardy to faux Wheel of Fortune or Family Feud, there are many games you can create inexpensively. Randomly select teams and work together to see which team wins. You can even create questions about each other to help everybody get to know one another!
  • Name Tags with a Twist – Print out name tags that allow all guests to write their names and a random fact or about themselves. Facts can be about anything – vacations they’ve taken, things they’re proud of, favorite music/movies/teams, etc. At the end of the event, you can even read a pop quiz aloud that asks 10 questions about 10 different members and their nametag facts. Reward the winners with a prize like a gift card.
